Step-by-Step Guide Normally Usage of (AC) Chargers

16-May-2025

When charging your EV,

DC chargers offer fast refueling on trips.
AC chargers provide slower, energy-efficient overnight charging.

Before you start, it’s helpful to know that although the process of charging your EV is similar with both AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current) chargers, their operating mechanisms differ.

Before you start, it’s helpful to know that although the process of charging your EV is similar with both AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current) chargers, their operating mechanisms differ. DC chargers supply power straight to the battery, allowing for significantly quicker charging times—perfect for rapid refueling on extended journeys. On the other hand, AC chargers use the vehicle’s internal conversion hardware to charge at a slower pace, which is ideal for overnight charging and generally uses less energy.

How to Charge Your EV at Renergy Stations Using AC Chargers

AC (Alternating Current) chargers, typically equipped with Type 1 or Type 2 connectors, are ideal for regular, slower charging, often performed overnight. Here’s how to use them effectively:

1. Prepare Your EV:
Ensure your vehicle is positioned so that the charging port is accessible to the charging point. Ensure that the charging port is open, and the vehicle is turned off before connecting to the charger.

2. Connect the Charger:
Plug the charging cable from the station into your EV’s charging port.

3. Authenticate Your Session:
Tap your payment method (debit/credit card, contactless, or charging card) on the charger, or authenticate via the Smoov app, following any on-screen prompts.

4. Start Charging:
Once authenticated, the charging will begin automatically.

5. Monitor Your Charge (optional):
Monitor the charging status through the charger’s detailed feedback display, the vehicle’s driver instrument display, or via the Renergy app.

6. End the Session:
Press the stop button on the charger or end the session through the Renergy app. Authenticate the end of the session if required.

7. Disconnect and Store the Cable:
Safely unplug the cable from your vehicle and return it to the station.

By following these steps, you can enjoy a smooth and efficient charging experience at any Renergy station using AC chargers.
